Meal Prep for the Busy

One of the biggest excuses that I hear from people that want to be healthier is that they just don’t have the time. That’s funny to me because we all have 24 hours in a day and 7 days in a week. It comes down to priorities.

I wear many hats. I am the CEO of several companies. I’m a bodybuilder, a philanthropist, a daughter, sister, and SO many more things. I used to not know how to handle everything, so I would neglect important things in my life. My health was one of those things.

For 10 years I didn’t take care of myself like I should have. It wasn’t until I realized the consequences of neglecting my health directly affected all the other areas of my life, that I started to care.

In order for me to think at my highest, best and clearest I know that I have to exercise and fuel my body with good food. When I’m not fueling properly, I can’t perform at my absolute 110%.

I meal prep because unfortunately most of the easily accessible food is junk that makes you feel like crap. By taking 2-3 hours once a week, I am able to ensure that I am putting good food in my body despite being on a busy schedule.

I eat a pescatarian (the only meat I eat is fish) diet, so I am limited in some of my food options. Meal prepping my own food just makes it 10x easier for me to have access to healthy, nutrient dense food. One of my go-to pescatarian meal prep meals is salmon, quinoa, and asparagus. This meal is the perfect blend of healthy fats, greens, and a protein-rich grain.

My meal prep usually consists of a few hours, one day a week. I try to do it with someone else and we put on dance music and turn it into a big dance party meal-prep session. The key is to cook all the food in bulk; then you can just put it into cheap containers and keep them in the fridge or freezer to grab throughout the week.

When I shop for all my ingredients for my meals I also like to pick up some healthy snacks that I can grab and toss into my work bag every day. This way I am not liable to reach for the junk. Some of my favorite snacks include Grab the Gold protein bars, Orgain Organic Plant Protein Powder, and Peanut Butter Perfect Bars

If you are like me and really don’t like to cook, then there are meal prep companies that you can use that will deliver the meals pre-made to your home or office. I used Music City Fit Meals when I was prepping for my last bodybuilding competition and loved it. Sakara is a great meal prep company to use that makes delicious and 100% vegan meals Since I’m not prepping right now, I’m trying out creating my own meal preps at home.

Living a healthy life is really as simple as putting in the time and effort to do it. Don’t skip out on yourself. Take the time ONCE a week to ensure that you are equipped to tackle that week. You’ll be amazed at the level that you can operate at when you are fueling yourself for the better.
